About this event

The Ark Project is the building of a new church in Isleham, Cambridgeshire. The project began around 2008 when we purchased the first lot of oak logs and started by building a large saw mill to house the huge saw we have purchased to mill the logs.

We are a congregation of around 250 members who have outgrown our existing building and are building for the future. Paul Hedger is the lead elder of the church and is running the project along with 6 trustees of the church who each bring various skills to the project from finance, administration to engineering and planning. The project is being built via a trading company called High Oak Construction Ltd, which we have set up as a wholly owned subsidiary of the charity High Street Church.

The website will give you a lot of photos and history of the project to date: www.arkproject.org.uk. Paul and 3 others have worked on the project , building each section of the frame, piecing it together and doing all the work involved to get it where it is today. We have been incredibly blessed with help from A local crane company to help erect the frame but all the construction to date has been done by our own building team from felling further timber, making the frame, making all the windows and doors and staircases, doing all the roofing, laying the car park etc etc etc.

To date the project has been funded by the members of the church and friends associated with it. We are now getting a mortgage to enable us to complete the final part of the building as we are at the stage now where we need a lot of finance quickly.

This is a joint meeting with IStructE
