The High Bridge in New York.
The High Bridge in New York.

About this event

Constructed in 1848, The High Bridge is the oldest standing bridge in New York City, and was designated an individual New York City landmark in 1970.

In 2012, the New York City Department of Design and Construction (NYCDDC), in partnership with the New York City Department of Parks and Recreation (NYCDPR), embarked on an ambitious project to reopen the Bridge as a walking park and vibrant tourist destination.

This talk will describe the ambitious rehabilitation efforts that were completed in 2015 including repairs to the steel and masonry components and the complete removal and replacement of the existing walkway.

Please arrive around 17.30 for the lecture to begin at 18.00.
