Celebrate 50 years of the 1965 Highway Plan for Glasgow, the city's equivalent to London's present Crossrail project.
The plan set out a detailed vision for the city region. Prepared by Scott Wilson Kirkpatrick, it was prepared and implemented using then cutting edge technology and standards.
In this joint event with CIHT, three former Scott Wilson staff will explain the plan's development and implementation:
- Ronnie Hunter - presents an introduction to the plan; why it was needed; how it was developed; what might have been and the legacy for the city region.
- Jim McCafferty - contributes on design and construction aspects.
- Graham Edmond - considers maintenance and looks to the future.
