About this event

What is it that makes the British a nation of railway lovers?

Michael Williams has travelled tens of thousands of mile by rail though Britain to write a series of bestselling books – including On the Slow Train, Steaming to Victory and The Trains Now Departed that explore the nature of our relationship with the railways, past and present.

Do we view the 'old days' through rose tinted glasses? Are today's trains as good as they could be? What should we be doing to make our trains the best in the world?

Join Michael for a journey into the soul of our railways, including some extracts from his forthcoming book – The train to the sea.
