Since its publication in 2003, C580 has become one of CIRIA’s best-selling guidance documents finding a readership and application far beyond the UK.

There have also been a number of changes in construction practice and legislation that have an effect on the design of embedded retaining walls. The need for an update was therefore clear, but how to go about updating such a highly respected and definitive document?

The presentation will give the background to the project, the results of an industry wide survey as well as a discussion on some of the key decisions that have to be made when designing embedded retaining walls in accordance with Eurocodes.
