Thomas Telford – the lost project – Rochester Bridge 1821-1827, Rochester

About this event

There have been thousands of pages written and published about the life and career of Thomas Telford, but none of these give attention to the six years that Telford spent as the Bridge Engineer to the medieval charity, the Rochester Bridge Trust.

Drawing on original correspondence, reports and plans from the Trust's archives, Sue Threader will give an insight into Telford's personality, the way he conducted his consultancy business, and fill in an important missing period in the published histories of his career. This event will be of interest to civil engineers and construction historians with a fascination about the work of this great engineer, providing an insight into the way he managed his relationship with his clients.

Our speaker, Sue Threader BEng HonDSc CEng FICE, is the current Bridge Clerk (Chief Executive) to the Rochester Bridge Trust.

Numbers are restricted so pre-booking online is essential.
