About this event

Toastmasters is a non-profit organization, comprising over 250,000 members in over 106 countries, represented by over 12,500 clubs, and dedicated to excellence in communication and leadership.

The first Toastmasters club was started by Ralph Smedley in Santa Ana, California in 1924 at a local YMCA to meet the need for speech and leadership training for young men. His initial "Ten Lessons in Public Speaking" still form the core of the Toastmasters educational program as the 10 projects of the Competent Communicator manual.

The single club turned into a network of affiliated Toastmasters Clubs as the idea spread throughout southern California. When an affiliated club formed in British Columbia, Toastmasters International was born.

You will have a chance to participate in the meeting to deliver a short 1-2 minute long speech "on the spot" and you will also have a chance to listen to others delivering their speech.

Why should you attend Toastmasters?

  • To become a better public speaker.
  • Overcome public speaking fears.
  • Practice presentations for other audiences.
  • Gain the confidence and courage to Lead.
