The energy sector continues to provide some of the greatest challenges imaginable to the engineering profession. New energy infrastructure is needed to replace our ageing assets but it must work within a framework where price and carbon are critical elements.
In the meantime, maintenance of our existing infrastructure - whether it be North Sea production or conventional generation and distribution infrastructure - remains critical. The engineer's role in rising to these challenges is crucial to the well-being of the nation.
This lecture explores the skills which will be required of young engineers to meet such challenges and forms part of ICE's knowledge campaign on skills and lifelong learning.
This is a joint event by Edinburgh and Aberdeen Branches. There will be a live video link to Aberdeen from Edinburgh and a Q&A session with both audiences as well as via the webcast.
This event is being broadcast online. Please join the lecture 15 minutes before the start time of 6.30pm.
