The talk will include a summary update of the most recent guidance and a number of recent case examples will be used to illustrate the scale and nature of potential risks. The complexity of liabilities will then be highlighted and emphasised including those beyond the financial. The tools for liability management will be presented (technical, financial and legal).

Finally headline example case studies will be presented and key lessons emphasised.

Dr Alexander Lee, PhD, MSc, BSc, CGeol FGS, CSci FGS

Technical Director of WSP UK Ltd and Regional Operations Director for Scotland, Alexander has accountability for providing advice, support and technical guidance across all UK offices. His remit encompasses: business improvement; growth of our people; and the cultivation of a shared "best in class" culture within the business.

Alexander has previously been employed by WSP Remediation Ltd, Environmental Resources Management (ERM), GeoDelft and British Nuclear Fuels (BNFL). He is an author of both domestic and international publications and a regular presenter and chair at industry conferences. His primary technical focus encompasses groundwater modelling, hydrogeological investigation and risk assessment.
