Have you ever wondered what Site Engineers get up to?
The Thames Valley Graduates and Students Committee are proud to present a virtual site visit, delivered by Ian Alberto, a site engineer for BAM Nuttall filmed at a rail embankment project in Catford.
Ian is a Site Engineer, situated within the South Division of BAM Nuttall's rail infrastructure sector. Having graduated from the University of Plymouth with a Master's degree in Civil Engineering in 2019, he has developed his experience and ability of site engineering through rail and marine infrastructure projects.
The Catford Loop embankment project, consisted of the installation of 458 soil nails needed to adequately stabilise an embankment adjacent to a live railway line. The location of this project presented unique challenges which had to be overcome in order to maintain a fully operational railway line.
In this virtual site visit, Ian will be explaining first-hand what a typical day is like for a graduate, how he got in to site engineering and how he has found his experience since graduating.
This event will be a great opportunity to ask any questions you might have about a career in site engineering so we will ensure there is plenty of time at the end ask questions about the project or Ian’s career path. We look forward to seeing you there!
