Brooklands is the birthplace of British Motorsport and Aviation, home of Concorde and the London Bus Museum. This historic site includes part of the original race track built in 1907, the Edwardian Clubhouse and displays of vintage cars, motorcycles, bicycles and aircraft in original buildings.
You can visit the Barnes Wallis Stratosphere Chamber which was built in 1947 to test aircraft engines and other vehicles by simulating a variety of climactic conditions and now includes aero engine and bomb displays. The optional Concorde Experience takes you inside the only Concorde with public access in S E England. After passing through a display of Concorde interiors and memorabilia through decades, take your seat in the front cabin for a virtual flight, piloted by Captain Mike Bannister.
The guided tour of the Museum lasts approximately 1½ hours and in addition in the afternoon we are planning a short talk relating either to the original construction or more recent work relocating a hangar.
The cost of the guided visit to the main Museum is £14 for seniors (those aged 60 & over). Those under 60 are very welcome to participate but you will be required to pay an additional sum of £2 on the day. We have hired a lunch room at Brooklands but it will only accommodate 20 people maximum and, if you wish to join others there, please advise email@example.com in advance so that we do not exceed the number. You will need to pay an additional cost of £3 per person to cover the room hire and your food will be extra as well.
After lunch you may wish to add the Concorde Experience to your day out. This will take place at 14.25. Please advise Anne Qualters (see above) if you intend to do so and you will then pay Brooklands for this on the day at a cost of £5 per person.
