Visit to the Humber Pipeline Tunnel, Goxhill

About this event

This £100M design and build project is replacing a critical natural gas pipeline for National Grid by boring a tunnel under the environmentally sensitive Humber Estuary, and stringing the pipeline into it. The site visit will see the project team ramping up for the start of tunnelling activities, by assembling the TBM and its supporting infrastructure in the Goxhill Launch site. The project was set up in a greenfield area, and will be decommissioned to leave a greenfield area in 2019.

Please note that there are only 15 places available for this visit, therefore booking is essential.

Visitors will receive a joint presentation from National Grid and the Principle Contractor, (a Joint Venture of Skanska, Porr, and A-hak) on the constraints at the project (including tunnelling through the main drinking aquifer in Lincolnshire), before a site visit to see the launch pit, slurry treatment plants, pipe stringing field and associated tunnelling infrastructure.
