Walking tour, Manchester

About this event

A tour around one of the most fascinating parts of the city centre looking at:

  • Britain’s finest timber station, Oxford Road
  • The dazzling terracotta of the Principal Hotel inside and out
  • The mighty Chatham and Birley Mills
  • The controversial proliferation of purpose-built student towers
  • Using art as an anchor at First Street
  • Finishing up at the Bridgewater Hall and Manchester Central for a look at the Jeremy Deller Peterloo Memorial and the problems of getting the right tone with public art

The tour is informative, entertaining and showcases the area in a new light.

The walking tour will meet at 6pm at the entrance to Oxford Road Station.

Organised by ICE Manchester branch.
