Whitesands flood alleviation scheme lecture, Abergele

About this event

The Whitesands area of Dumfries in Scotland is an area that has regularly suffered from flooding from the River Nith, and the council has long had an aspiration to protect it from flooding. So recently, a project has been developed by WSP to find a solution to this historic problem.

The scheme has a number of complexities and as part of the design process, Virtual Reality was used to refine the design and to also better ably communicate it to stakeholders. So the presentation will present the scheme, some of its technical challenges and also show you how Virtual Reality was used on the scheme.

A hot buffet will be served at 6pm. The lecture will start at 6:30pm.
