About this event

Please note that, due to the very limited numbers, priority will be given to ICE members over non-members. If you aren't a member, the system will not permit you to make a booking. Instead please email Anne Qualters at: anne.qualters@ice.org.uk who will keep a note of your interest and will book your place for you should space allow.

In September 2014, 4Delivery Ltd (MWH, Costain, and Veolia) started work on Southern Water's £63 million environmental scheme to redevelop and completely modernise Woolston Wastewater Treatment Works in Southampton. By 2019, the site needs to meet new environmental discharge consents and resolve historical odour issues.

Occupying a small footprint next to the River Itchen, with developments on all other sides, any future permanent processes had to remain within the boundary of the original site. With Southern Water needing to continue to treat wastewater from approximately 62,000 people throughout construction, the creation of a temporary treatment works would be critical to the success of the project on this important 'live' treatment plant.

The design has been developed with an advanced BIM solution and challenges traditional construction practices to use Design for Manufacture and Assembly. All who have an interest in wastewater and processes, off-site solutions and the use of BIM will find the talks of use.

Speakers are senior members of the 4D team with considerable experience in project management, wastewater treatment and complex construction.

There are only 16 places available for the talk and the visit and pre-booking is essential. If attending the visit you will need to provide your own PPE comprising safety helmet, hi-vis vest and trousers, and safety boots, gloves and glasses. 4D may be able to supplement the smaller items from their limited 'visitor' supplies if required on the day, but they do not have enough to provide for everyone.
