About this event

Have you ever wondered how Preston's dock was built? By civil engineers of course!

Records describe the project as being 'plagued from the outset with problems'. Civil engineers met the challenges and provided the solutions.

They were responsible for the navigation improvement works (straightening the river), plus construction of the dock and associated infrastructure, including railways.

Come along and find out about the renowned civil engineers involved such as Robert Stevenson, David Stevenson, Sir John Coode and the infamous Edward Garlick of Preston.

The event is free to attend – donations to the Church Stained Glass Window Fund welcome
