About this event

Network Rail's Western Route extends from Paddington, through the Thames Valley, Cotswolds, West Country and the South West Peninsular to Penzance. The Route employs almost 2000 staff and operates in excess of 1500 passenger trains a day.

The extensive asset base of the Route includes has over 2,000 miles of track, over 3,000 structures and 15,000 earthworks. Over 170 route miles of new electrification infrastructure are being entered into service during 2017/18.

Management of the infrastructure through Asset Management principles is undertaken and the presentation will consider how this is delivered and the benefits of the Asset Management framework. In addition, the presentation will provide a series of examples as to how best practice Asset Management tools and techniques are used to operate a complex, safety critical infrastructure company.
