About this event

Drones are a hot topic, the use of which is increasing exponentially. Like other technologies, drones are no longer for experts and the role of the hobbyist has taken a front seat. In order to gain value from this technology it is essential to understand the evolution of the technology, the importance of data, the safety and quality comparisons to 'business as usual' and what the horizon looks like.

One way or another we will all be affected by drones. Attendees will hopefully gain a further understanding of the above and will be better placed to consider how this technology can be used for the benefit of all.

The talk will focus on three distinct key areas:

  1. Drone technology
  2. Data capture, management and post processing
  3. Integrating drones and getting value from the technology

Topics of discussion will include: drones vs. sensors, the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), 'within visual line of sight vs. beyond visual line of sight', technological requirements to flying autonomously, and projected market integration to 2050.

Matthew Watt CEng MCInstCES MRICS
