About this event

A linear Walk along the Southern half of the River Wandle Trail. The Walk follows the route of the River Wandle where possible, mostly along riverside paths or paths through parks. A guide to the route can be downloaded from the Internet.

Note: the walk can be terminated at several locations if you get tired.

Start: East Croydon Railway Station by Ticket Office at 10.00am
Finish: Mitcham Junction Railway Station / Tram Link Stop or several other Railway Stations and Tramlink Stops on route.

Parking Various Carparks in Croydon within 10minutes walk – Expensive unless you find an all-day Car Park.

Distance: 8 miles but lots of escape routes.

The Walk

Along roads past Croydon Alms Houses, the old Bishops Palace and Croydon Minster to join the River Wandle in Wandle Park. Passing Waddon Ponds and Carew Manor. Proceeding through Beddington Park and Carshalton Ponds; past Wilderness Island and through Poulter Park. Leave the Trail to walk to Mitcham Junction to catch train / tram home. The route is flat and generally along roads or good footpaths but will be a little muddy in a few places.
