Join the ICE East Midlands Graduates and Students Committee for a presentation on how cycling is the key to enabling low-carbon, inclusive active travel for all.

It is widely recognised that we are in the midst of a climate crisis. Increased wildfires, rising sea levels and flooding demonstrate that climate change is happening now. As if that wasn’t concerning enough, the world is also dealing with a global pandemic. Restrictions on travel and exercise during lockdowns and beyond, highlighted the importance of fresh air and exercise.

The number of people cycling has steadily increased annually, but during lockdowns in the UK, cycling was one of the few transport modes that increased as people sought alternative methods of travel.

Cycling is an active form of transport, environmentally-friendly, space-efficient and inclusive – as bicycles are generally cheaper than cars.

This event will introduce the benefits of cycling and focus on current developments around providing safe cycling infrastructure.
