Award-winning architect Francis Kéré was commissioned to design the Serpentine Pavilion 2017. His response was to create a tree-like Pavilion, inspired by the Baobab tree where people gather in his home village in Burkina Faso, West Africa; an inclusive place where people can connect with each other and nature.
Amy Koerbel, Michael Orr and Sinead McKenna from AECOM will share the story of AECOM's role in designing and delivering this prestigious project – and the many challenges met head-on along the way.
With just 20 weeks from initial sketch to opening day, collaboration and clear decision-making within a small design team features highly in turning the architect's vision into a reality.
Arrive at 6pm for a 6:30pm start. Light refreshments provided. Free parking is available at the back of the office – access via Upper Marlborough Road.
