About this event

As part of the ICE’s Explore Engineering Weekend, ICE London have partnered with Southwark Cyclists to showcase the legacy of civil engineering greats such as Brunel, Telford and Bazalgette.

The tour with will start and finish at the Southwark Gateway Needle (south side of London Bridge) heading up the Cycle Superhighway directly to Abbey Mills Pumping station (Bazalgette).

The tour will then continue via the River Thames, passing by:

  • Three Mills on river Lea
  • Bow Locks, River Lea
  • Limehouse Cut
  • Limehouse Basin
  • Wapping Hydraulic Power Station
  • Wapping station (Brunel’s Thames Tunnel)
  • St Katherines Dock (designed by Thomas Telford)
  • Tower Bridge

Finishing at Southwark Gateway Needle (near London Bridge Station - south side of London Bridge). The approximate cycle route can be viewed here .

Cycle hire is not included. Please bring your own/hire bike and helmet with you. This tour is a leisurely ride and public Santander/Boris bikes will suffice.
