Scottish based engineering company Orbital Marine Power (formerly Scotrenewables Tidal Power) are developing a novel solution to the challenge of generating electricity from tidal stream resources.

This presentation will provide a summary of the company’s achievements to date, including the testing of the world’s most powerful tidal turbine; exploring the unique attributes of the technology that, at a conceptual level, deliver a disruptive product to an emerging global market. The talk will also provide a vision for the commercial future of tidal energy.

Andreew Scott

Andrew leads the team at Orbital Marine Power having joined the business as CEO in 2015, and has accrued over 15 years in the Scottish marine industry sector; active at the leading edge of multiple pioneering Scottish R&D programmes which have seen more than £100m invested in technology innovation.

Andrew has been, and remains, closely involved across all aspects of technology development as well as working extensively with external parties and stakeholders to progress commercial development for the tidal sector. Andrew is also currently a Director of Ocean Energy Europe, he has a degree in mechanical engineering from Strathclyde University and a postgraduate MSc in Energy from Heriot-Watt.
