About this event

This talk presents a selection of innovative products, uses and forms of concrete, developed to meet the requirements of contemporary design and construction.

Elaine Toogood, Senior Architect at the Concrete Centre, will give examples ranging from early prototypes still in development to innovation already usefully employed by industry.

It includes:

  • Concrete the material: Development in manufacturing techniques and the properties of concrete including ultra-high-strength, low carbon and self-compacting concrete.
  • Innovative finishing techniques and textures for visual concrete.
  • New products for the use of concrete, facilitating design and construction for high thermal performance, including low conductivity connectors and structural insulation.

Arrive at 6pm for a 6:30pm start. Light refreshments provided. Free parking is available at the back of the office – access via Upper Marlborough Road.
