Overview

Given the increases in size, complexity and number of projects down the pipeline for the Hong Kong construction industry, construction disputes will inevitably be on a steady rise. As opposed to resorting to litigation through the court system, parties to these commercial disputes are looking for less adversarial ways to resolve disagreements. A decade since the coming into effect of the Hong Kong Mediation Ordinance, it is a good occasion to review how alternative dispute resolution fuels a speedy and effective way out of conflicts.

In this webinar, Mr John Lau, a seasoned project manager and dispute resolution professional, will be illustrating the roles alternative dispute resolution plays in getting out of conflicts quicker, less costly and more effectively. He will be sharing observations on how dispute arises from his practice as an independent arbitrator, adjudicator and mediator; and how parties benefit from taking a less adversarial approach.
