Overview

Live Labs 2 is a £30m UK-wide programme funded by the Department for Transport. The Association of Directors of Environment, Economy, Planning & Transport (ADEPT) has developed Live Labs 2 to support the transition to net zero carbon local roads. As one of the seven Live Labs 2 pilots, the A382 Carbon Negative Highway project aims to radically accelerate the reduction of carbon emissions associated with the construction and maintenance of UK highways.

This presentation will provide an overview of the Live Labs programme and the A382 scheme. The talk will cover the innovations under consideration and progress to date, as well as challenges and successes.

The ambitious A382 scheme aims to show that moving towards carbon negative highways is possible without the need for offsetting, providing a “live laboratory” opportunity to promote change in the design, construction, and maintenance of roads.

The lecture has been organised by the ICE Exeter City Club. There will be a Q&A session at the end of the presentation, followed by an opportunity to network with colleagues. Everyone is welcome.

The venue can be found using the What 3 Words location: hammer.successes.vest.
