Day in the life: consultant

Overview

The Thames Valley Early Careers Network (TV ECNet) is delighted to bring you the second in our 2023 series of ‘Day in the Life’ talks.

Civil engineering careers can take many paths, and it can be difficult to know which is best for you – regardless of what stage you’re at in your career! Our ‘day in the life’ series aims to give an insight into the various options, including consultancy, contracting, client, academia and apprenticeships.

This second session will focus on consulting, and we will be joined by three speakers who are working for international consulting firm Stantec who will discuss the range of projects that Stantec are a part of. Our panellists are:

• Peter Roseff – principal engineer
• Ryan Flanagan – graduate civil engineer
• Husham Salman – civil engineer - water

Together, they will be able to provide a rounded overview of what working for a large consultant firm is like – and show that it’s not all boring when you work in an office!

Each speaker will provide a short overview of their role, before opening the floor up to questions from the audience – so make sure to come prepared!

The series is aimed at all early careers members of the ICE, but students, apprentices, and recent graduates may get particular value from the session.
