Examination preparation day: ICE Adjudicators Qualifying Exam

This event is for those who are interested in joining the ICE register of Adjudicators. The ICE is now offering a stand-alone, specific virtual session to help candidates for prepare for the ICE Adjudicators Qualifying Exam.

The session will be led by Patrick Waterhouse and Donny Mackinnon, two experienced adjudicators who will guide you through the exam requirements

Aim of the day:

To give participants tips and information on how to successfully give a ‘higher level answer’ within the Paper 1 decision writing exam and the Paper 2 procedural exam. 

The Qualifying Exam is to be held on:

  • 13 February 2024 – Paper 1
  • 20 February 2024 – Paper 2

Patrick Waterhouse

Patrick Waterhouse is a chartered civil engineer and chartered quantity surveyor. 

He is a mediator, adjudicator, expert witness and expert determiner. His work as a dispute resolver tends to involve high value disputes and often NEC contracts. He is on the panels of 10 nominating bodies including ICE and RICS.  He is vice Chair of the ICE Dispute Resolution Committee. 

He also works as a contract advisor and training consultant.

Donny Mackinnon

Donny is an experienced and multi-disciplined construction professional: a Chartered Construction Manager, a Chartered Quantity Surveyor and a Chartered Arbitrator (qualified in both domestic and international commercial arbitration). He is a Fellow of the Institution of Civil Engineers and of the Chartered Institute of Civil Engineering Surveyors and is a Member of the Academy of Experts. He sits as a construction industry arbitrator, dispute board member and adjudicator, is CIOB Accredited in Adjudication and acts as independent expert.
