Overview

Join the ICE Bristol and Bath Early Careers Network for a series of presentations about the approaches to flood risk management. Delivered by engineers from Arup’s water engineering team in Bristol, the evening will be split into three presentations covering various aspects of flood risk management.

The first talk will summarise the Environment Agency’s approach to developing flood alleviation schemes, from initial assessment through to construction. The opportunities and challenges at each design phase will be demonstrated through a variety of case studies.

Secondly, the event will focus on catchment-wide planning and strategy development. The region is facing growing challenges of too much and too little water in our catchments. This part of the session will discuss how Arup is working with the Environment Agency to manage these challenges in the River Severn region.

Finally, there will be a presentation on Arup’s smart water assets capability, using insights driven by predictive AI technology to improve asset optimisation and resilience. This talk will include an overview combined with illustrative case studies and discuss the opportunity to transform industry asset management using this innovative approach.
