Overview
The Labour Department of the Hong Kong government published the revised Code of Practice for Safety and Health at Work in Confined Spaces in the Gazette on 31 May 2024. It aims to strengthen occupational safety and health for work in confined spaces and will take effect on 30 November 2024. In this six-month grace period, it is a good time to revisit the hazards, requirements, and appropriate practices for working in confined space.
In this workshop, officers from the Labour Department will provide a comprehensive overview on the occupational safety and health requirements for working in confined spaces. The essential knowledge for working in confined spaces will be covered, and the corresponding statutory or Code of Practice provisions will be highlighted. The key considerations in a risk assessment, the occupational safety and health hazards, and corresponding precautionary measures will also be discussed.
At the same time, the key revisions and updates in the Code of Practice for Safety and Health at Work in Confined Spaces will also be covered. Participants can develop a more comprehensive understanding of working in confined spaces through the workshop.
