Book nowOverview
Guided by experienced Recommended Geopark Guide (R2G) staff, participants can enjoy the island-hopping tour around the Northeast New Territories Sedimentary Rock Region.
Participants will first be welcomed by the Devil’s Fist at the beginning of the boat ride. It is the best-known landmark at Wong Chuk Kok Tsui, formed by weathering and erosion along the sandstone bedding with a history of about 400 million years. Then, participants will hop on the Tap Mun island. Not only will participants visit various rock formations on the island including the ‘Balanced Rock’, but they can also appreciate the 400-year old fishing communities, supporting the sustainable development of rural areas in Hong Kong.
After a lunch (self-arranged) at Tap Mun, participants will take on another boat journey to the eastmost island of Tung Ping Chau. The whole island was formed by sedimentary rocks, in which are the youngest formation in Hong Kong. Magnificent layers of rocks could be seen all along the coast, as well as rock pools formed by long-term erosion and weathering.
Join us and uncover the magnificence of these geological wonders!
