Overview

This talk will cover the geological structure beneath both sites and the extent of historical mine workings along with the risks this posed to the permanent design. It will also go on to explain the challenges of treating these mine workings on a live network and the associated risks involved.

Sarah Coverdale

Sarah Coverdale is the Geotechnical Design Lead for the Costain Jacobs Partnership on A1 Scotswood to North Brunton and is the Mine Working Lead on A1 Birtley to Coal House. Sarah has over 20 years’ experience in the industry and has worked on the stabilisation of abandoned mine workings throughout her career in the North of England and Scotland. Sarah is also involved in the A1 Morpeth to Ellingham project which is due to commence mid-2022.
