Overview

Steel sheet piling with the silent and vibration-free pile press methods has been well established in the UK since the 1990s and is used extensively in London and other urban areas for basement construction. Typical pile presses will install standard U or Z profile piles, requiring an offset of approximately 1000mm between the face of adjoining structures/hoardings and the excavated basement. The Zero Piling method adapts the profile of the piles installed and how they are handled by the equipment to reduce the offset to just 300mm.

This presentation will cover how the equipment operates, the project benefits from efficient land use, and also discuss the trade-offs of this method compared to other embedded retaining wall options.
