North Bridge is a historically significant bridge which was built in 1895. It is located in the heart of Edinburgh over Waverly Station and is part of Edinburgh key infrastructure routes. Due to its age and increase in traffic loading, it was identified that strengthening and refurbishment works were required to keep the bridge open and operational.

Our site visit shall start at the Balfour Beatty site offices on Market Street. We’ll be aiming to meet as a group in front of Brewhemia around the corner from the offices. Please aim to arrive 15 minutes before the listed start time of the event at the location above. The guided site visit shall be provided courtesy of Rory McFadden, Balfour Beatty’s project director for North Bridge, supported by local ICE Edinburgh Early Careers Network committee members.

Please ensure you bring steel toe cap boots with ankle protection with you. Other PPE will be supplied by the contractor during the site induction.

It would also be beneficial if visitors would have a good idea of sizes for their PPE, trousers and vest specifically. There are a few different sizes available for visitors in the case one or two people don't bring suitable footwear.

Please be advised that for this event unfortunately many parts of the site are not suitable for wheelchair access. Further to this, be aware that the project is as well a live construction project. Please dress suitably for the weather of the day.

Please note: spaces for the event are limited to 15 attendees. If you register but find the event is fully booked please email [email protected] to be put on a waiting list.
