Overview

A face-to-face event at Bridgwater, Somerset discussing skills shortages and gender imbalance with the construction and civil engineering sector.

ICE South West Hinkley Point City Club re-launches its face-to-face events with a call to arms from a South West construction dynasty.

Skills shortages and gender imbalance are long-standing issues within civil engineering and construction. We’ve had enough talking about the problems, it's time to solve them!

AccXel is the UK’s first co-funded, industry-led construction school, and is being built in Gloucestershire. AccXel aims to revolutionise construction education by:

  • Attracting more people into the industry as an aspirational career route
  • Bringing more women and under-represented groups into the industry
  • Inspiring civil engineering and construction as a career of choice and opportunity
  • Upskilling people within the industry using the unique Skill STEPS© Programme
  • Responding to and teaching what the industry needs

Join the event at Cannington Court to hear how a family civil engineering company, together with LEP government funding, has set the benchmark for the future of training, education and diversity needs within the sector
