Join the CIWEM Welsh branch and ICE Cymru on this site visit to the Natural Resources Wales (Cyfoeth Naturiol Cymru) Flood Risk and Coastal Management Scheme construction site at Stephenson Street, Liswerry.
The scheme will reduce flood risk to over 2,000 properties and involves bolstering parts of the existing 1350m flood embankment along the eastern riverbank and constructing new floods walls, a section of highway and a flood gate.
There will be a site induction at the beginning of the visit to ensure delegates understand the site risks and rules.
This will be followed by a presentation on the scheme. There will be a focus on environmental risks, mitigation measures, archaeology and environmental enhancements.
At the end of the tour, there will be a buffet lunch kindly provided by Alun Griffiths Ltd.
CIWEM and ICE Cymru members and non-members are welcome to this technical visit.
As this an active construction site, full PPE kit must be worn, including:
Please note that those not wearing full PPE will not be permitted to walk around the site.
