Hong Kong is committed to building a sustainable future and to ensuring that our future generations can continue to thrive in a clean and green environment. Hong Kong’s Climate Action Plan 2025 was published in 2021, which set out decarbonisation targets and strategies to achieve carbon neutrality.
The construction industry is reported to account for over 35% of worldwide energy usage and 40% of CO2 emission. Sustainable design and construction therefore play an important role in reducing impacts on environmental, social and economic aspects.
This workshop will introduce two local case studies:
- Kai Tak Sports Park and
- Boardwalk underneath Island Eastern Corridor.
With both projects currently under construction, the speakers will highlight examples of sustainable measures and technologies adopted in the design and construction of the two projects. The participants will then be engaged in a floor discussion for exchanging views and ideas around sustainability in design and construction, and how the construction industry can work collectively to further enhance different sustainability aspects.
- The maximum capacity of the event: 30 participants
- Registration will be confirmed on a first-come-first-served basis, with priority given to ICE HKA members.
- Only successful applicants will receive a confirmation e-mail.
- Attendance certificates will be provided after 2 weeks of the event only if attendees attend the whole event.
- The above is subject to change without prior notice.
Adverse weather arrangements:
The event will be cancelled or rescheduled to another date in case of Thunderstorm; Amber or Red or Black Rainstorm Alert; or Typhoon Signal No. 8 or above being in force by the Hong Kong Observatory two hours before the event. It may also be cancelled because of safety or other reasons.
