Options for preventing flooding in Lincolnshire.

About this event

Lincolnshire has a long history of flood events, the most recent being the tidal surge of December 2013. It continues to face a number of potential sources of flooding, exacerbated by large tracts of the county lying below sea level. Over 100,000 properties (34%) lie within floodplains.

Ian will share examples of the various options used to manage flood risk in differing situations during his 40 year career in the county. These include self-help and resilience measures, floodwalls and defences, bypass channels, flood storage reservoirs, flood warning arrangements and the ongoing Boston Barrier project.
