About this event

In a world where information – and lots of it – is available at the touch of a button, how do you manage the publicity for a large scale construction project?

Who manages the public consultation about the wind farm proposals next door? Reassures the public about the housing development in the local village? Explains the reasoning behind the contentious plans to build a car park? Or advises motorists about the closure of a vital infrastructure route?

No matter how well planned or explained any development proposal is, being able to communicate those plans to the public in plain English can be vital to easing the public consultation process and ensuring a good long-term relationship with service users. Something that is even more important should things go wrong and you are faced with a media crisis.

Former journalist Erica Jones and Director, Philip Jones, will share some highs and lows from Maxim PR & Marketing's two decades of supporting and facilitating new and ongoing engineering projects. From opening the world's largest operational offshore wind farm to communicating the lane closures on an historic bridge, they will talk about the company's experiences of dealing with the press, residents and the ever-growing social media community.
