About this event

Part I - Stormwater Management:

Climate change impact and the increasing land demand in Hong Kong have brought new challenges to the drainage infrastructure. Traditional civil engineering approach to stormwater management is no longer sufficient to tackle the challenges and thus building resilience to the drainage infrastructure becomes more important in this ever changing world.

DSD is now moving forward to explore a more sustainable approach for the drainage system and would gradually evolve the already reliable drainage infrastructure into a more resilient system.

Part II - Wastewater Treatment:

Wastewater treatment facilities are essential to meet the needs of the community and support the sustainable development of Hong Kong. Considering the limited land resource and rapid increase in the demand for infrastructure development, new concepts including compactness, energy efficiency, better integration with the community, etc. have been adopted in the next-generation wastewater treatment plants being designed by DSD, including Relocation of Shatin Sewage Treatment Works to Caverns, Shek Wu Hui Effluent Polishing Scheme and Yuen Long Effluent Polishing Scheme.
