About this event

The £45M flood and erosion risk management scheme is over 8km in length and, once complete, will protect over 4,000 properties to a 1 in 500 year standard of protection. This presentation by the client and designer will describe the phased approach to design and construction and explore the varying design and construction challenges. The phased construction works started in 2015 and will run to 2022.

Three main reasons to attend:

  • One of the largest flood alleviation schemes in the south, with a number of environmental and social constraints.
  • Hear how an integrated delivery team was formed between the client and consultant.
  • The project is ongoing - so a chance to find out more about and learn from current challenges.

Speakers - Alexander Lee (Royal HaskoningDHV) and Alex Prior (Eastern Solent Coastal Partnership / Portsmouth City Council)

Alexander Lee is a Chartered Civil Engineer with over 20 years' experience in coastal and fluvial design projects and is project managing the design phase for Royal HaskoningDHV.

Alex Prior studied civil engineering at the University of Portsmouth and is the scheme project manager for the client, Eastern Solent Coastal Partnership.
