Overview
The Scottish Ground Engineering Group of the ICE and the Central Scotland Regional Group (CSRG) of the Geological Society of London are jointly hosting a poster competition in ground engineering and engineering geology.
The format for the competition comprises displaying of a maximum of 12 posters by those selected to present and answering informal questions from the judges. Following this, a maximum of four posters shall be advanced to the next stage of the competition which consists of a 10-minute presentation of the poster with a 5-minute question/answer session. Selection for entry to Stage 2 will be carried out on the night by a panel of judges.
The posters include a summary of the geotechnical or geological work carried out by the entrant, including a statement of the aims of the project or study, the methods employed, and the results gained together with analysis, conclusion and recommendations.
Notification of intention to submit a poster
Those intending to enter should notify Jez Gittens (CSRG) at [email protected] and the ICE SGEG at [email protected] no later than 22 November 2024 and include the following:
- Name
- Date of birth
- Organisation (state whether contractor, consultant, undergraduate or postgraduate student)
- Position in organisation
- Contact details (address and phone number)
- Title of poster and a short synopsis of your poster/topic (up to 100 words)
Details on the competition format, including poster sizes, presentation requirements and scoring will be given to the participants once the intention to submit has been received.
The competition will be hosted in-person on 03 December 2024 from 17.30 at Fairhurst Glasgow Office, 4th Floor, 300 Bath Street, Glasgow, G2 4JR.
