The journey starts to the west of Lock 16, the top lock on the long climb up from Grangemouth where canal joined the river Forth. The trip will pass the Golden Jubilee lock which gives access to the Falkirk Wheel Basin and the Falkirk Wheel.
On arrival at Bonnybridge the party will disembark and look at the lifting bridge which was built during the Millennium Project to restore the canal to through navigation and walk down to the “Radical Pend” the original road crossing here when the canal was built.
The trip will give people a chance to see how engineers solved the challenges of road and rail traversing the canal over the years.
Tea & coffee will be available on the journey.
It is expected that the trip will arrive back at Lock 16 between 4.30 and 5.00pm.
The trip costs £16.67 (excluding VAT).
