Overview

The scarcity of flat land resources in Hong Kong has led to the site selection of hilly terrains for the construction for the public housing development. The project under Contract No. CV/2020/01 at Pok Fu Lam South involves the site formation works of land platforms with a total area of approximately 7 hectares, in order to support the upcoming redevelopment of Wa Fu Estate.

Throughout the captioned site visit, participants will be introduced to large-scaled hillside site formation and civil works, including but not limited to the installation of retaining walls, construction of footbridges, roadworks, and other ancillary works such as landscaping.

Participants will also learn about the challenges and solutions of construction among harsh terrains/geology, and complex interfacing issues with nearby infrastructures (e.g. declared monument, reservoir).
