The Government has been implementing the Pier Improvement Programme (PIP) in recent years. The programme aims to fulfil the basic needs of local villages, enhance accessibility to scenic and natural heritage attractions, and support green tourism development in Hong Kong.
Participants will learn about the considerations, challenges and solutions in planning, designing and constructing piers’ projects through a hybrid seminar that would be live-streamed in parallel. To further reinforce the learnt knowledge of in-person participants, the seminar will be followed by a technical site visit to Yung Shue Wan Public Pier under the PIP. In the visit, participants will be introduced to the key challenges and solutions encountered during the construction stage, particularly the difficulties in marine construction.
