To promote sustainable development, electric vehicles are increasingly promoted as an alternative to fossil fuel powered vehicles. However, electric vehicles pose unique challenges to our infrastructure, from their increased weight to their need for charging stations. How we prepare our infrastructure to tackle these challenges becomes more important than ever.
In this webinar, Ms Michelle Chiew, winner of the Emerging Engineers Award 2024 Hong Kong regional final, will share her research on the effects of increased use of electric vehicles on future traffic action on bridges.
Moreover, Mr Vincent Liu, electric vehicle charging engineer of the Environment and Ecology Bureau will discuss the government’s work on the promotion of electric vehicles and conversion of petrol filling stations to EV charging stations in Hong Kong.
Through this webinar, participants can get a better understanding of future infrastructure needs for the transition from fossil fuel powered vehicles to electric vehicles.
