The ICE Cumbria branch welcomes members to attend its annual supper in Penrith.
Attendees will enjoy a three-course meal, followed by a presentation on the Carlisle Southern Link Road (CSLR) by Gareth Scott from Cumberland Council and other members of the CSLR team.
The CSLR will connect Junction 42 of the M6 with the A595 to the west, with new junctions linking existing radial routes into Carlisle and the Garden Village. The route will include bridges over two main railway lines and the Caldew and Petteril rivers, a network of footways and cycleways, and an extensive programme of landscaping and environmental mitigation.
The 8km long road will provide vital infrastructure to relieve congestion in Carlisle and provide access and network capacity to enable the successful and accelerated delivery of St Cuthbert's Garden Village.
The presentation will cover the history of the project, funding, planning and public enquiry, the ongoing works, and the challenges and successes of the project so far. There will be an opportunity to ask questions and see behind-the-scenes videos and photos of the work that has taken place to deliver this ambitious local project.
Please note: If you have any dietary requirements, please let us know either in the ‘special requirements’ section of your booking, or by contacting us directly.
Bookings for the annual supper close on Wednesday 04 September.
