We are delighted to invite you to a special Fellows Reception hosted by the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) on 08 July in Cambridge. This exclusive event is designed for both existing and aspiring Fellows to come together, network, and exchange knowledge and ideas.

Peter Lawton

Peter Lawton is the East of England regional chair. Peter has nearly 50 years of civil engineering experience in both the public and private sectors. Initially specializing in general civil engineering works, the demanding coastal environment of North Norfolk led to becoming adept in many aspects of coastal engineering. He has been engaged on a large number of coastal engineering projects ranging from the localised small scale works to large scale projects some of which were innovative. Clients have included Councils in England and Scotland, contractors, HR Wallingford, the insurance industry and major oil companies such as Shell and Perenco.

Elizabeth Orchard CEng MICE is a Chartered Civil Engineer specialising in the delivery of sustainable development on large (strategic) sites, and is the Institution of Civil Engineers' Regional Member of Council for the East of England until 2025. 

In March 2023, Elizabeth set up her own consultancy business, Endelevu Ltd., to help fulfil her ambitions to help deliver truly sustainable large-scale/strategic development in the UK, in line with the UN Sustainable Development Goals, and now advises clients on how to deliver Net Zero Impact infrastructure in mixed-use developments around the UK.

Chris Fernandez

Chris has a broad range of experience in the construction industry encompassing both technical and major project leadership roles. He has worked on projects from feasibility to construction across the highways, rail, heavy civils, marine and building sectors.

He is a Chartered Engineer and Fellow of the Institution of Structural Engineers and a Fellow of the Institution of Civil Engineers.

He has worked for civil engineering contractors, May Gurney and Kier for over 10 years and also worked for small, medium and large consultancies including Atkins and WSP. Throughout his career he has drawn upon his technical grounding and constructability experience in how he influences and delivers projects, and his firm belief that these are fundamental to the successful outcome of any civil engineering project.
