Overview
This year has been an important one for the civil engineering industry in Canada, with the design and construction of numerous major infrastructure projects starting or in progress, which marked a new journey for our profession in the Americas.
In 2024 the Branch held numerous committee meetings to debate key issues related to changes required in our Strategy and Planning for the next 3-5 years. With the continued focus on student engagement, several events with university students were organized to share experience with the students and to provide support. Some in-person events including site visits were also organised to allow knowledge sharing and networking between fellow members.
The 2024 AGM will include a short review of the activities in 2024 along with strategy and planning updates and a preview of the plans for the coming year, followed by the all-important voting-in of the 2024-25 committee.
The committee is currently formed of 8 officers and around 10 general committee members ranging from seasoned professionals, recently qualified engineers, graduates and students who support our sub-committees on membership, knowledge, student events and sustainability. In addition, the committee is open to general members who contribute what they can, when they can without any obligations. All Graduate or Student grade members of the ICE are welcome, including full-time undergraduate students.
We welcome your participation in the AGM and anyone who has a desire to become a general committee member. Although not essential, we ask anyone interested in standing for election to a named role in the committee to inform the secretary at [email protected] in advance of the AGM.
Please note that the AGM will be held in a hybrid mode (i.e. in-person and online). The venue for the in-person meeting is Suite 400, 145 Wellington Street West, Toronto. You are invited to arrive the venue at 5.30pm for networking before the AGM. Refreshments will be provided for those attending in-person. A further networking session will also be arranged after the AGM.
How to register
Please click the "Book now" button and select your preference for attending in person or online on the registration form by 31 October 2024 for our arrangements.
