Overview

18 July marks the 90th anniversary of the iconic Queensway Tunnel under Liverpool’s River Mersey.

In the lead up to the tunnel’s anniversary, hear from two experts as they tell the story of this engineering marvel and discuss the social and economic impact of the tunnel on the city and country. The engineers’ approach to the problem of subaqueous excavation and construction, as well as future developments of the tunnel will also be explored.

This in-person event is organised by ICE Merseyside and the Chartered Institution of Highways and Transportation (CIHT).

We aim to ensure that our events and venues are accessible to all. If you have particular needs, please let us know and we’ll always do our best to accommodate.
